1. Who we are

The Biz Heroes builds and looks after websites for local businesses. For the information described on this page, we are the data controller.

2. What we collect

• When you ask for a preview: your business name, trade, town, your name, your phone number and email address, any Google Business link you share, and anything you write in the notes box.
• When you become a customer: the details that appear on your website, plus your billing and contact details.
• When you use your private portal: the changes you make to your details, photos and prices.
• When someone visits one of our customers’ websites: a simple count of visits per day. We do not identify individual visitors.

3. Card payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount paid.

4. Why we use it

Where we rely on our own legitimate interests, we keep that to a minimum and only use information in ways you would reasonably expect.

• To build and send your preview, and to answer your questions.
• To deliver the website and hosting you have paid for, including keeping your portal working.
• To send you service messages, such as your portal link or a change to these terms.
• To keep proper records for tax and accounting, as the law requires.
• To understand which of our pages and example sites are useful, so we can improve them.

5. Who we share it with

We share only what is needed, and only with the companies that help us run the service:

• Stripe, to take payments.
• Our website platform and hosting provider, which stores the site and its data.
• Our email provider, to send preview links, portal links and service messages.

6. Cookies and tracking

We do not run advertising trackers on this site. The site uses only what it needs to work, and our customers’ websites keep a daily count of visits so the owner can see how many people look at their site. That count does not identify anyone.

7. How long we keep it

Preview requests are kept while there is a chance you might go ahead, and then for up to two years so we can pick up the conversation again.

If you become a customer, we keep your details for as long as the website is with us, and for six years afterwards for tax and accounting records.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we are required to keep a particular record by law.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Have anything wrong corrected.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
• Object to a particular use, or ask us to limit it.
• Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we have handled your information.

9. Keeping it safe

Access to customer details is limited to the people who need it to do the work, and the tools we use protect information in transit and at rest. If anything ever went wrong, we would tell you and the regulator as soon as we were required to.

10. Changes to this page

We may update this page when the way we work changes. The date at the top tells you when it last changed, and we will email customers about any significant change.
